In their 2nd district game, the Judson Rocket Varsity Softball team looked to improve their district record 2-0 against the Rattlers of San Marcos. Junior Samara led the Rockets on the mound, giving up only 1 run and 3 hits total through 5 innings. Tied at 1-1, this game looked like it was going to extra innings when the Rockets entered the bottom of the 7th. With the first 2 batters being walked and Sophomore Emily Ayala generating a base hit to load the bases, Samara Sanchez took the plate. After fouling off her first pitch and taking a ball on the next, giving her a 1-1 count. Samara took the next and final pitch of the game, 220 feet over left/center for a grand-slam, winning the game in an exciting finish to advancing the Rockets district record to 2-0. The Rockets will take a well deserved break for the remainder of the spring break week and will look to improve their record on Tuesday, March 17th as they look to face the Unicorns of New Braunfels at New Braunfels.
